“Oh dear God, I was going down. There was no stopping it. Visions of broken necks danced in my head.” – J. Lynn

Clumsiness is something I’ve never seemed to be able to outgrow.  I’m not sure if physical coordination and grace are actually genetic, but it the ability to trip over one’s one feet and walk into walls and door frames does seem to run in my family (thanks, Dad!).  My clumsiness seems to strike at random times and in spurts.  I don’t just have one incident each day or each week.  I have a cluster of incidents all at once and then nothing for a period of time.

I hadn’t had any real issues in a while.  That is, until Thursday.  I got up in the morning, not feeling well at all.  I had a bad headache and stomach ache.  I had barely slept during the course of the night.  After feeding my dog and evaluating my condition, I decided to text my supervisor and let him know that I was going back to bed for a little while and that I would work form home.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., I got out of bed, put on my glasses, grabbed my work computer, and got to work.  I would periodically get up to get something from the kitchen, go to the bathroom, and let the dog in and out of the house.  Almost every time I was walking through the house one of my big toes would get caught in my pant leg and I would trip.  It happened at something like five times.  It was very irritating and sometimes nerve-wracking.

Oh, but that’s not all.  After work, I was feeling better, so I started cleaning.  In the midst of my chores, I started taking some things from the house out to the garage.  To get outside via the back door, you go through my kitchen and down three steps to the landing.  In the course of one my “excursions,” I fell down the steps.  OUCH!  I managed to catch myself so I didn’t fall completely down, but I still hurt my left knee.  It’s still sore today, but not as much as it was then.  Oh well, such is life.

Does anyone else have this problem?  How many of you out there are accident-prone too?
